Which Chance is this?

This is the 2007 Eau Fraiche, the fresh, citrus-green member of the family. It is distinct from the original Chance Eau de Toilette , the Eau Tendre, the Eau Vive, and a newer Eau Fraiche Eau de Parfum, so the name alone does not tell you which one you have. This is the cool, summery version.

Is Eau Fraiche just a lighter Chance?

Not exactly. Jacques Polge built it as a chypre-floral, pairing a fresh lemon-and-citron top with a patchouli, vetiver and teak-wood base. That mossy, woody structure under the citrus makes it its own scent rather than simply a watered-down version of the original.
