Almost entirely, past the name. Hawas is the aquatic one: apple, bergamot and cinnamon into watery notes, plum and cardamom, finishing on ambergris, musk and driftwood, built to read fresh and marine. Hawas London drops the water completely and builds a rosy oriental instead, saffron and pear up top, rose and frankincense through the heart, blonde woods, amber and vanilla underneath. If you bought the original for its aquatic freshness, this is not a continuation of it.

It gets more metallic before it gets warm. Saffron sharpens on hot skin, so the honeyed edge that makes the opening approachable in cool air is thinner here and the spice reads harder for the first half hour. Pear and pink pepper go quickly alongside it. Once rose and frankincense settle the fragrance stabilises, and the blonde woods and amber base stays dry rather than sweetening, and give it time before deciding, because the first twenty minutes are the least flattering part in this weather.
