Powder against fruit. Absolutely Blooming opens on raspberry, black currant, pomegranate and pink pepper into May rose and peony over white musk, so it is berry-led and bright the whole way. The 2021 Eau de Parfum starts on iris, peony and lily of the valley instead, keeps the fruit to a soft apricot and peach in the heart, and closes on vanilla, tonka, sandalwood and benzoin. Absolutely Blooming is the fruity one; this is the powdery, grown-up one.

They move in opposite directions. Iris stays cool and dry on warm skin, which is why powdery florals survive this climate better than sweet ones, but apricot and peach both get fuller and jammier in humidity, so the fruit in the heart is more obvious here than in a cool European spring. The vanilla and benzoin base then warms up behind them. It shifts from a powdery floral toward a soft fruity-oriental as the day goes on.
