The quiz gives every fragrance in stock a percentage score against your answers. The accords you pick count for half of the score, because accords describe what a fragrance actually smells like. The occasions you choose count for a quarter and the seasons you choose for a quarter. If you skip a question, it is left out and the rest are re-weighted.
A fragrance whose main accords are the ones you picked scores higher than one that only contains a trace of them. Anything whose main accords or base notes include something you marked to avoid is removed, one that has it only in the opening or heart notes is marked down, and a preference for men’s, women’s or unisex style gives a small nudge, never a hard filter. The results show up to eight fragrances, highest score first.
Is the Match your mood quiz free?
Yes. It takes about two minutes, needs no sign-up and does its scoring in your browser. Each result links to the product page, where you choose a 1.5 ml to 30 ml decant.
What does the match percentage mean?
It shows how closely a fragrance fits the answers you gave, not how good it is. A higher percentage means more of your accords, occasions and seasons are covered. Two fragrances at 90% can still smell different, so read the notes on the product page.
How is it different from the Fragrance Advisor?
The quiz asks the same short set of questions every time and ranks fragrances with the fixed scoring above. The Fragrance Advisor is a free chat where you can describe a budget, a fragrance you already wear or a situation in your own words.
Does it only show perfumes that are in stock?
Yes. The matcher only ranks fragrances that are available as a decant right now, so a result can be ordered today. If your favourite is sold out, change an answer or ask the Fragrance Advisor for something close.
