The Intense adds oud and takes away the brightness. Cedrat Boise Intense runs Sicilian citruses and black currant into leather, white sandalwood and Cambodian oud, finishing on oakmoss, ambergris and vanilla, which makes it darker and more resinous. The original keeps its lemon sharp and its base on cedar, leather and sandalwood with a lighter vanilla. The Intense is the evening reading; this is the one that works in daylight.

Longer than most, and the concentration is why. This is an extrait-strength citrus rather than a cologne, so the Sicilian lemon and bergamot have real material behind them and stay legible past the first half hour where a designer fresh would be gone. The bitterness in the lemon peel holds up particularly well on warm skin. What changes is the base, where the vanilla and sandalwood warm and round out sooner than they do in cool air.
