Named for the cocktail, Gntonic opens on lime, mint, ginger, pink pepper and bitter orange, an aromatic citrus rush from M. Micallef.
Lily of the valley, cedar, orange blossom and nutmeg fill the fresh spicy heart, while moss, vetiver, musk, sandalwood and amber bring it down into a grounded, earthy woody finish. Both longevity and sillage are rated 4 out of 5, so expect it to hold up through an office day into evening.
It works equally well at a Gulshan dinner or a cooler spring_autumn campus day, less suited to the height of monsoon humidity. Sidonie Grandperret’s niche composition for him comes as a 2–15 ml decant filled from the original bottle.
