What does Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau de Parfum smell like?

A dark, boozy almond-vanilla. Licorice and almond open it rich, a heart of jasmine sambac and orange blossom adds a floral lift, and a base of vanilla and tonka bean makes it deep and sweet. So it reads as a spiced marzipan-and-anise scent rather than a fresh or fruity one. It is the 2014 Eau de Parfum.

How is the EDP different from the original Hypnotic Poison EDT?

The EDP is the darker, spicier one. It swaps in jasmine sambac, drops the coconut of the 1998 eau de toilette, and leans harder on licorice, vanilla and tonka, so it is richer and more resinous where the EDT is lighter and creamier. Match on concentration to get the version you want.

What is that distinctive licorice-almond note?

It’s built for cooler evenings — a winter wedding or an Eid evening suit it far better than a daytime office. There’s no numeric rating to quote here, but as an eau de parfum (EDP) expect it to hold through a full evening out. For her, though anyone who loves gourmand vanilla could wear it.
