That keeps it tailored and contemporary, closer to a fresh cut-rose bouquet than the heavy, soapy roses the old-lady label usually refers to. If dark, syrupy rose is what you are trying to avoid, this sits well clear of it.

It is the same rose taken somewhere fresher. Irresistible is built on pear and ambrette over rose and iris, with a musk-and-cedar base that keeps it soft and slightly powdery. Very Floral drops the pear for bergamot, coconut water and blackcurrant, doubles the rose with both essential oil and absolute, and adds ylang ylang and jasmine over a solar accord. The original is the quieter and more powdery of the two; this is the brighter and more openly floral one.

It opens up rather than collapsing, which is not true of every rose. Rose absolute turns jammier as skin warms, but the iris and ambrette underneath keep a dry powder running through it that stops the sweetness from taking over. The solar accord in the base gains the most in humidity, adding a warm, skin-like haze through the afternoon. Coconut water and blackcurrant are the parts that go quickly, so the fresh opening is shorter here than in cool weather.
