Warmer and fruitier, with the same cold opening. Bright Crystal runs yuzu and pomegranate over an iced accord into peony, magnolia and lotus, finishing on acajou, vegetal amber and musk, and it stays sheer throughout. The Absolu keeps that chilled yuzu-pomegranate start but adds raspberry to the heart and swaps in mahogany and a fuller amber underneath. The original is the transparent one; the Absolu has body behind it.

It works harder here than it does anywhere cool, which is the point of it. The icy note is a cooling effect rather than a smell, and it reads more obviously against hot skin than against cold air, so the first fifteen minutes are genuinely refreshing in this weather. Yuzu and pomegranate go quickly, as all thin citrus and watery fruit does. Raspberry and the amber base then warm up sooner than intended, so the second half is sweeter here than the opening promises.
