Same house sweetness, different spine. Carlisle opens on green apple, nutmeg and saffron and builds a tonka, rose and davana heart over vanilla, patchouli and opopanax, which makes it plush and fruity. Haltane keeps the saffron and praline but frames them with lavender and clary sage up top and finishes on agarwood and cedar rather than vanilla. Carlisle is the softer and rounder; Haltane is the one with wood and bitterness in it.

It arrives sooner and reads sweeter than intended. Praline is a sugar note and warm skin brings it forward fast, so the lavender and clary sage that give the opening its dry, herbal frame are gone before they have done much work. Saffron sharpens rather than softens in humidity, which helps. The oud and cedar base is dry and holds steady, so the second half is more balanced than the first; Evening wear, lightly applied.
