How does it compare with Terre d'Hermes Eau de Parfum Intense?

They share a mineral instinct and a very different budget. Terre d'Hermes Intense is built on bergamot and black pepper into coffee and licorice over a stone-and-lava accord, deliberately bitter. Fattan is brighter and more conventional: grapefruit, bergamot and pink pepper into vetiver, cedar and patchouli, finishing on oakmoss, amber and benzoin. The Hermes is the stranger and more austere; Fattan is the everyday version of a similar dry woody idea.

Does it hold up as a Dhaka daily wear?

Yes, and oakmoss is the reason. Grapefruit and bergamot go quickly in high heat as all citrus does, but vetiver, cedar and patchouli are dry materials that keep their shape on warm skin, and the oakmoss underneath adds a bitter green thread that humidity does not soften. Amber and benzoin do warm through the afternoon, giving the last hours more body than the opening suggests. Nothing here sweetens enough to become a problem.

Made for him, it works in an air-conditioned Dhaka office or on a casual day through the cooler spring, autumn and winter months, and holds up for an evening out too. Expect long-lasting, well-projecting wear, so it lasts through a full working day.
