Two herbal masculines from different worlds. The Dreamer is juniper and tarragon into iris, lily and flax over tobacco blossom and amber, floral and slightly powdery in a very nineties way. Invasion Barbare opens on grapefruit, bergamot and violet leaf, then lavender, cardamom, thyme and ginger, finishing on vanilla, musk and patchouli. The Versace is the odder and more floral; the MDCI is a polished fougere that smells like clean skin rather than a composition.

It does, and the restraint is why. Grapefruit and bergamot go early as always, but lavender, thyme and cardamom stay sharp on warm skin rather than turning soapy, and ginger adds a dry bite that humidity does not blunt. The vanilla and musk base is soft and close rather than sweet, so there is nothing here for heat to thicken. It reads quieter in this climate than in cool air, which suits a fragrance built to sit near the skin anyway.
