Is The Only One just a darker version of D&G The One?

They share a family name but not a formula. The One Eau de Parfum is a creamy fruity-floral amber, while The Only One swaps that for a coffee-and-floral gourmand, drier and more contemporary. Violet and iris give it a powdery lift the older The One does not have, so it reads as a separate idea rather than a reissue.

Is the coffee note prominent or just a hint?

Noticeable, but not a straight espresso. It sits in the heart against violet and iris, so it comes across as a soft, milky coffee wrapped in flowers rather than a bitter coffee gourmand. The florals keep it dressed-up instead of foody, which is the balance the whole scent is built on.
