Sweet against smoky. Tobacco Vanille is the comfort one: tobacco leaf and spice over vanilla, cacao, tonka and dried fruits, dense and almost edible. Tobacco Oud opens on whiskey and runs cinnamon and coriander into a base of tobacco, agarwood, incense and sandalwood, so the tobacco arrives dry and resinous rather than sweetened. If Tobacco Vanille is a little too much dessert for you, Tobacco Oud is the same leaf without the sugar.

Only after dark, and even then sparingly. Vanilla, cacao and tonka all gain weight on warm skin, and the dried-fruit accord underneath does the same, so a composition that reads rich in cold air becomes genuinely heavy in humidity. The tobacco leaf and spice up top are the only dry elements and they are outnumbered. This is a winter fragrance being worn in the wrong climate, which is manageable with one spray and impossible with three.
