How is Dolce & Gabbana The One Gold different from the original The One for Men?

It is the more intense, spicier version. The original The One for Men is a warm tobacco-amber classic; The One Gold is an Eau de Parfum Intense that opens on blood orange, ginger and Sicilian bergamot, with a clary sage, cardamom and geranium heart, over amberwood, Haitian vetiver and patchouli. That makes it brighter up top and woodier in the base than the original. It is a 2021 release, distinct from the earlier The One Eau de Parfum Intense and The One Grey.

Is 'The One Gold' the men's or the women's version?

Dolce & Gabbana released two different 2021 scents with almost the same name. This is the men's The One for Men Gold, a spicy citrus-woody built on blood orange, ginger, clary sage and vetiver. The women's The One Gold is a separate plum-and-rose floral. Check the 'for Men' label so you do not end up with the other formula by mistake.

Is this the same as the older gold The One from 2013?

No. A 2013 shimmer-bottle Gold Limited Edition existed, but that was a gold-tinted take on the original 2006 The One formula. This 2021 The One Gold is a fully new Eau de Parfum Intense with a brighter, spicier opening and a woodier base. Three distinct gold-named releases float around, so match the year and the 'Intense' wording.

Blood orange and ginger give The One Gold a bright, citrus-forward start, with bergamot adding lift before clary sage and cardamom bring an herbaceous heart. The base settles into amberwood, vetiver and patchouli, keeping the warm spicy and woody sides of this eau de parfum (EDP) in balance.

Its daytime brightness suits a Dhaka summer commute or a relaxed campus day, carrying through into the office. Longevity and sillage both come in at 4/5, so expect it to hold up across a working day and project at a moderate distance.
