A bright citrus over a warm amber base. Blood orange, mandarin, lemon and bergamot open it juicy, a heart of saffron, lavender and sage adds spice, and a base of ambergris, cedar and oakmoss gives it depth. So it reads as a citrus scent that turns richer and more resinous than its fresh opening suggests. It is a 2020 release, crafted by Marco Genovese.

It is widely compared to Baccarat Rouge 540 for the shared saffron-and-amber sweetness, but it is not a straight copy. Trajan opens far more citrus-forward and leans drier with its oakmoss and cedar, so it reads as its own scent that happens to share BR540's warm heart. Treat it as inspired-adjacent rather than a dupe.

The base does the work. Plenty of fragrances open on blood orange and bergamot, but Trajan pivots into saffron, ambergris and oakmoss, so it holds a warm, resinous character instead of fading into a simple fresh citrus. That contrast is why it sits in the niche tier.
