Fragrantica discussions most often place it near Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, minus the basil, and call it a more modern, woody cousin of Terre d'Hermes. It is also one of the most cloned niche scents on the market, so a lot of budget "woody" releases are chasing this exact vetiver-and-Akigalawood effect. The original is the clean reference point.
Akigalawood, a captive lab material with a peppery, woody-patchouli character. Quentin Bisch builds almost the whole scent around it, framed by Thai basil, timut pepper and vetiver, so it comes across as a smooth, radiant blond wood rather than a dark or smoky one. That polish is why it reads expensive and gets copied so often.
Basil and pink pepper open Bois Imperial green and fresh spicy, vetiver and geranium carry the heart, and patchouli, amber and sandalwood close a woody, earthy base with a trace of oud.
