It is marketed as an interpretation of Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja . The passionfruit, saffron and oud give a similar fruity-oud character at a much lower price.
The passionfruit and rose keep the opening bright and fruity, but the oud, leather and guaiac base grounds it, so it balances fruity sweetness with a darker, woody-leather drydown.
Passion fruit, rose and saffron open Azzure Aoud with a spiced fruitiness before oud, benzoin and patchouli take the heart, and leather, guaiac wood, amber and sandalwood close a warm, resinous base.
Expect this eau de parfum (EDP) to hold through a long evening and be felt by people nearby, fitting a winter wedding well. AUROME offers it as a 5–15 ml decant from the original French Avenue bottle, letting him try the oud base for a week first.
