Is Drakkar Intense a flanker of Drakkar Noir or the original Drakkar?

It flanks the original 1972 Drakkar rather than the 1980s Drakkar Noir, and the two smell quite different. Drakkar Intense is sweeter, ambery and slightly boozy, where Drakkar Noir is a drier, classic aromatic fougere, so do not expect this to be a stronger Drakkar Noir.

Is Drakkar Intense a clone of another fragrance?

It is not marketed as a copy of anything. Wearers sometimes liken its boozy aromatic-fougere character to Azzaro Pour Homme Intense, but that is a loose community comparison rather than an official match.

Drakkar Intense opens with herbal artemisia and rosemary over bergamot, a fresh spicy, aromatic top before lavender and clary sage settle into the heart alongside juniper.

Patchouli, suede and oakmoss build an earthy, leather-tinged base as this eau de parfum (EDP) dries down. We have not logged longevity or sillage figures for this one yet, so the decant is a good way to see how it holds up on you.

For him, it suits a winter wedding or an evening out. Buy it as a 5–15 ml decant filled from the original Guy Laroche bottle and give yourself time to judge the dry-down before going bigger.
