Is the Eau de Parfum the same as the original Club Black?

No. The original Club Black was an Eau de Toilette; this 2025 EDP reworks it around a smoky myrrh, amberwood and Ambrox Super base, with elemi and bergamot up top and a vanilla-jasmine-musk heart. The EDP reads drier, more resinous and more unisex than the sweeter, more masculine EDT.

Is the vanilla too sweet or gourmand?

Not really. The vanilla here is dry and creamy rather than sugary, closer to a vanilla absolute than a dessert note, and the myrrh and Ambrox keep the base mineral and incense-like. Wearers who find most vanilla masculines cloying tend to get on with this one, though a heavy hand can push it sweeter.
