What does Mercedes-Benz Club Black smell like?

A warm, lightly smoky vanilla. Bergamot opens it, a heart of incense and jasmine adds a soft smokiness, and a base of vanilla, benzoin, ambroxan and woods keeps it smooth without turning syrupy. So it reads as a cosy oriental-woody rather than a fresh or sharp scent. It is the 2017 Eau de Toilette by Olivier Cresp.

How is Club Black different from the plain Club?

It is the warmer, sweeter one. Where the plain Club is a fresh rhubarb-citrus woody, Club Black leans into incense and vanilla for an oriental feel. So choose Club Black for evenings and colder wear, and the plain Club for daytime.

Is there more than one Club Black?

Yes, so check the concentration. This is the 2017 Eau de Toilette described here. Mercedes-Benz later released a separate 2025 Club Black Eau de Parfum with a different note set (elemi, myrrh, amberwood), so match on Eau de Toilette to get this version.

Club Black opens with bright bergamot before a smoky incense and jasmine heart takes over. Vanilla and benzoin close the dry-down into a dark, amber-toned base with real depth.

It suits a formal party on a cool evening rather than a casual daytime look. With longevity and sillage both around a 4, expect it to be long-lasting and to project well into the night.

Club Black is made for him, dark and resinous rather than fresh. AUROME sells it as a 2–15 ml decant filled from the original Mercedes Benz bottle, enough to wear it several times before deciding on a full bottle.
