Is Tempo a heavy, old-fashioned patchouli?

No, and that is the point. Olivier Pescheux builds it on three patchouli extractions but keeps it bright and refined, with bergamot, violet leaf and pink pepper up top and clary sage and mate smoothing the patchouli into a clean, modern woody wear rather than a dark, dated one.

Someone who wants a wearable, contemporary patchouli rather than an earthy seventies style. It is unisex, leans slightly dressy, and works across most of the year. Diptyque released it for the house's fiftieth anniversary, which fits its polished, considered character.
