Laathani centres on a smoky, resinous oud framed by rosemary and a bakhoor accord that gives it that burnt-incense, Middle-Eastern feel. The brand's own listing adds candied fruit and pink pepper on top and a base of white amber, vetiver and musk, so it moves from a slightly sweet opening into dry, woody smoke.

The retailer listings, the brand's own site and community databases do not fully agree, and one retailer even shows an entirely different rose-and-nutmeg pyramid.

Both are Ahmed Al Maghribi oud scents, but Blu Oud pairs its oud with rose and a smoother, sweeter finish, while Laathani goes drier and smokier through its rosemary and bakhoor. Choose Laathani if you specifically want the incense-and-woodsmoke side of oud.
