What does Montblanc Legend Eau de Parfum smell like?

A darker, leathery fougere. Bergamot and violet leaves open it cool and green, a heart of jasmine, magnolia and woodsy notes adds body, and a base of oakmoss and leather gives it a dry, dressed-up finish. So it reads as a more serious, cold-season take on the fresh Legend style. This is the 2020 Eau de Parfum by Olivier Pescheux.

Is this the same as the original Montblanc Legend?

No. The original 2011 Legend is a cleaner, sportier fougere; this 2020 Eau de Parfum keeps that DNA but pulls it darker, with more leather and oakmoss. If you liked the original but wanted something denser for evenings, the EDP is the one, so match on Eau de Parfum when you buy.

Is Legend Eau de Parfum similar to Dior Sauvage?

They get compared for sharing that fresh-but-dark designer register, but they are not the same. Sauvage leans on peppery ambroxan, while the Legend EDP is greener up top and more leather-and-oakmoss in the base. Consider it a moodier alternative rather than a Sauvage substitute.

Bergamot and violet leaf open Legend with a citrus, slightly green start, before jasmine and magnolia bring a floral touch to the heart. The dry-down is where the name earns itself, with oakmoss and leather settling into a woody, ozonic base that carries a mossy depth.

It moves comfortably from an office day into an evening date or a winter wedding, holding its formal edge throughout. Longevity and sillage both sit at 4/5, so expect it for him to last through the day and project at a fair, noticeable distance.
