No, and Guerlain does not pretend otherwise. The published record of the fragrance notes that it has been reformulated several times in the modern era , with the 1919 formula surviving as a preserved sample at the Osmotheque in Versailles rather than on a shelf. Oakmoss is the reason: it carries the entire chypre structure here and it is now a restricted material, so no current bottle can use it at the level a 1919 formula did. What survives intact is the shape, that dry peach against a mossy, spiced base, which is still unlike anything in modern perfumery.

Dryad is what a green chypre looks like when someone builds one now, and Mitsouko is the thing it is answering. Dryad opens sharper, galbanum and tarragon rather than bergamot and citrus, and its heart is narcissus and orris where Mitsouko's is that famous dry peach. Both land on oakmoss and vetiver. Mitsouko is the more austere and the more difficult of the two, and Dryad is greener and easier on a first wearing.
