They share a family feel but are separate scents. Encre Indigo is the cooler, more polished cousin of Lalique's inky, vetiver-driven Encre Noire, opening on juniper, pink pepper and bergamot, moving through black tea, saffron and bay leaf, and resting on Madagascar vetiver, patchouli and ambergris, with no oud or musk.

It splits by skin. On some the vetiver-and-patchouli drydown reads as a composed, dark soil-and-tea finish; on others it turns quieter and simpler as the tea fades over the ambergris. Either way the black-tea heart is the defining, most distinctive stretch.

From the same house, Ombre Noir shares its dark, shadowy character, while Vetiver Sensuel by Mancera is a warmer, smoother vetiver comparison. The cool aromatic profile suits autumn and winter and doubles as composed desk wear.
