More unusual than the flashy original. The roasted hazelnut-and-plum accord at its heart is genuinely distinctive for a designer release, so it does not smell like the standard sweet-fresh pack. That said, it stays sweet and approachable, with cedar and an amberwood-patchouli base keeping it grounded, so it reads as an easy-to-like scent with an unexpected twist rather than a difficult one.

Almost entirely, past the name and the bottle. 1 Million is a spicy leather: mandarin, grapefruit and mint into cinnamon and rose over amber, leather and patchouli. Lucky drops the leather and the spice and builds on plum, roasted hazelnut and honey over amberwood, vetiver and oakmoss instead. What the two share is a sweet, easy character and nothing more, so if the cinnamon-leather edge is what put you off the original, that is not a reason to skip this one.

They can, and honey is the note to watch. Honey turns heavier and slightly waxy as skin warms, and the roasted hazelnut beside it thickens rather than lifts, so a hot afternoon pushes the middle of this further toward dessert than it goes in cool air. The ozonic top and grapefruit that keep it airy are also the first things to go. Oakmoss and vetiver do pull it back toward dryness by the end, but one or two sprays and an evening rather than a midday is how to wear it here.
