This is the 2013 original, sometimes now labelled L'Original to set it apart from the 2022 spin-offs Afterglow and Mango Kiss. If you have read about a mango or fruity Soleil de Jeddah, that is a later flanker rather than this one, which is a leather-and-iris composition.

An unusually soft one. Instead of the smoky birch-tar leather many houses use, it opens on chamomile, osmanthus and lemon, almost like warm tea, then settles into a suede-like leather with iris and vanilla. The leather here is cosy and powdery rather than harsh, which surprises people expecting something rugged.

Basenotes users point to Rasasi Tobacco Blaze, which shares the fruity opening and ashy drydown at a much lower price. The lemon up top makes Soleil de Jeddah the brighter of the two, so they are close cousins rather than twins, but it is a useful reference if the 777 price is a stretch.
