Both are Paco Rabanne lavender masculines and they land in different rooms. Phantom Legion is bright and smoky: lemon and lavender up top, then smoke, earthy notes and apple, over vanilla and vetiver. Victory Elixir is denser from the start, cardamom and black pepper alongside the lavender, then incense and patchouli into vanilla pod and tonka bean. Phantom Legion is the daytime one; the Elixir is thicker, sweeter and made for after dark.

Not at midday. Vanilla pod and tonka bean are the whole base and both gain weight on warm skin, with nothing dry underneath to hold them, so the density that reads luxurious in cold air becomes cloying through a humid afternoon. Lavender and cardamom give a sharp first twenty minutes and then step back. Incense and patchouli help a little, and this is an air-conditioned evening fragrance here, worn once rather than twice.
