A perfume decant is a small portion of a fragrance in its own spray atomiser, so you can wear a scent for days or weeks without buying the full bottle. At AUROME a decant comes in 2, 3, 5, 9 or 15 ml, for example Lattafa Khamrah at ৳150 for 2 ml and ৳315 for 5 ml.
The word comes from “decanting”, which means pouring a liquid from one container into another. In perfume, that means transferring fragrance from a retail bottle into a smaller spray bottle. This guide explains what a perfume decant is, how AUROME fills one, which sizes exist, how many sprays and days you get from each, what they cost, and how to store them. Prices below were checked in October 2026.
How AUROME fills a decant
AUROME fills each decant from a bottle of the fragrance shown on the product page into a new glass atomiser. Nothing is added, diluted or mixed. The retail bottle in the product photo identifies the fragrance; what arrives is the decant in the size you chose, not the retail bottle. You can read the same explanation on the AUROME FAQ.
A decant has no outer box and no retail bottle, which is why it costs a fraction of the full bottle up front. Because each decant is filled from a bottle of the fragrance shown on the product page, you can follow that scent’s opening, heart and dry-down on your own skin. That makes it the easiest way to find out whether a perfume suits you and your climate before you commit to a large purchase.
Decant sizes AUROME sells, and how many sprays each gives
Most fragrances are available as 2 ml, 3 ml, 5 ml, 9 ml and 15 ml decants. Some products skip a size, and each product page shows the sizes in stock and their current prices. A spray count depends on the atomiser and how firmly it is pressed, so treat these as estimates: about 15 sprays per millilitre.
| Size | Estimated sprays | Lattafa Khamrah | Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum | Creed Aventus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 ml | about 30 | ৳150 | ৳637 | ৳1,334 |
| 3 ml | about 45 | — | ৳853 | ৳1,749 |
| 5 ml | about 75 | ৳315 | ৳1,384 | ৳2,899 |
| 9 ml | about 135 | ৳511 | ৳2,434 | ৳5,149 |
| 15 ml | about 225 | ৳768 | ৳3,748 | — |
The three fragrances are Lattafa Khamrah decant, Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum decant and Creed Aventus decant. If you are unsure which size to pick, the guide to choosing a fragrance size is the place to start.
Which decant size should you choose?
Pick 2 ml or 3 ml to test a fragrance you have never worn. Pick 5 ml for a scent you already like and want to wear for a couple of weeks, and 9 ml or 15 ml for one you know suits you. A 2 ml or 3 ml decant is the lowest-cost way to try an expensive fragrance. A 2 ml of Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum costs ৳637, about a sixth of the ৳3,748 charged for its 15 ml.
If you do not know where to begin, the Fragrance Advisor recommends perfumes from your notes, season and budget and links you to a decant size, while the “Match your mood” quiz on the Find your scent page ranks in-stock fragrances from your answers.
Is a decant cheaper than a bottle?
A decant is cheaper to buy, because you pay for a few millilitres rather than a whole bottle. Whether it is cheaper per millilitre is a different question. Most AUROME product pages do not list a full-bottle price, so we cannot give a bottle-versus-decant comparison per millilitre, and we will not guess. What the catalogue does show is that larger decants cost less per millilitre than smaller ones:
- Lattafa Khamrah costs about ৳75 per ml at 2 ml, about ৳63 at 5 ml and about ৳51 at 15 ml.
- Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum costs about ৳319 per ml at 2 ml, about ৳277 at 5 ml and about ৳250 at 15 ml.
- Creed Aventus costs about ৳667 per ml at 2 ml, about ৳580 at 5 ml and about ৳572 at 9 ml.
The practical reading is simple. Buy a small decant to decide, then move up a size once you know you will wear it. You can compare every fragrance and size on the perfume price in Bangladesh page, or browse a house such as Lattafa, Dior or Creed.
Decant, sample or tester: what is the difference?
Sample vials are usually supplied by a brand or a perfume store, often 1 to 2 ml, and the size is not yours to choose. A tester is a retail bottle without its normal packaging. A decant is a portion you choose by size, held in a spray atomiser, which means you can use it every day the way you would use a normal perfume. Decants are sold in several sizes, so the 5 ml decant is a practical middle step between a sample and a bottle.
Advantages and drawbacks of a decant
The advantages are plain: lower spend, less risk of buying a scent you dislike, travel-friendly sizes and the chance to keep several fragrances in rotation, a small fragrance wardrobe, instead of one bottle. In Bangladesh’s heat and humidity, wearing a scent on your skin through a real day tells you far more than a quick smell in a shop. The drawbacks are just as real: you get no retail box or retail bottle, a small atomiser holds less than a bottle, and you must refill your choice sooner if you wear it daily.
Browse by category when you want options: perfumes for him, perfumes for her and unisex perfumes all show decant sizes on each product page.
Building a scent collection with decants
A decant is the simplest way to build a scent collection without committing to a full bottle each time. Many people keep three or four decants in rotation: a fresh one for work, a sweeter one for evenings, a warm one for cooler months and a favourite for travel. Because each decant is small, it fits in a bag or a drawer, and you can retire one that no longer suits you without feeling you wasted money on a large bottle. The Fragrance Advisor can suggest a balanced set if you tell it what you already wear, and the price guide shows the cost of each size before you add anything to your bag.
How a perfume decant is made
In general, a decanting process moves perfume from the original bottle into a clean, smaller container using a syringe, pipette or funnel, then fits a spray nozzle so the decant behaves like a normal perfume bottle. Good practice matters because air, dirt and moisture all affect fragrance. A reputable retailer uses clean glass atomizers (also spelled atomisers), does not dilute the fragrance and labels the decant with the perfume name and size. Plastic splash bottles and loose vials are not the same thing as a spray-ready glass decant.
AUROME’s own description is the one given above: each decant is filled from a bottle of the fragrance shown on the product page into a new glass atomiser, with nothing added, diluted or mixed.
Decants for niche perfume and Arabian fragrances
A decant is especially useful when a full bottle is expensive or when a fragrance is polarising. A niche perfume such as Creed Aventus is a bigger commitment, and a 2 ml or 3 ml decant lets you wear the scent through a full day before you decide whether it deserves that money. The same logic applies to bold Arabian fragrances: sweet, resinous or oud-led scents can smell very different in humid weather, so wearing a decant on your own skin is safer than choosing from a description. You can browse niche perfume decants and Arabian perfume decants by category.
How to test a decant properly
Spray once on clean skin, such as your inner wrist or forearm, and leave it alone. The top notes are what you smell first; they give way to the heart, and the base notes follow as the scent dries down. Judge the scent profile after a few hours, not after a few seconds, then wear it again on another day before deciding whether to buy a bigger decant or the full bottle. If you are torn between two decants, wear one on each arm and compare. A scent that works at home may behave differently in hot, humid weather, so try it in the conditions where you will actually wear it.
What is a perfume decant?
A decant is a smaller portion of a perfume in a spray atomiser, so you can wear a fragrance through its opening, heart and dry-down before buying a larger bottle. At AUROME it comes in 2, 3, 5, 9 and 15 ml, filled from a bottle of the fragrance shown on the product page into a new glass atomiser.
Are perfume decants original?
AUROME fills each decant from a bottle of the fragrance shown on the product page into a new glass atomiser. Nothing is added, diluted or mixed. For the details of how AUROME sources and handles fragrances, read the FAQ, and use the contact details there if you have a question about a particular product.
How many sprays are in a 2 ml, 5 ml or 9 ml decant?
As a rough guide, expect about 15 sprays per millilitre: a 2 ml decant holds around 30 sprays, 5 ml around 75 and 9 ml around 135. Counts are estimates and depend on the atomiser and how it is pressed. A 3 ml decant is around 45 sprays and a 15 ml decant around 225. A 10 ml size is not sold by AUROME.
How long does a 5 ml decant last?
It depends on how often and how heavily you spray. Using the estimate of about 75 sprays, two sprays a day lasts roughly 37 days, three sprays a day roughly 25 days and five sprays a day about 15 days. These figures are simple arithmetic from the spray estimate, not a promise for any one atomiser.
How should I store a decant?
Keep it somewhere cool and dark, away from direct sunlight, heat and bathroom humidity, with the cap on after each use. A drawer or a wardrobe shelf works better than a window sill, a car dashboard or a bag left in the sun. Heat and light change how any fragrance smells over time, so avoid temperature swings and keep the decant upright.
Do decants expire?
Every fragrance changes slowly with exposure to air, light and heat, and a small decant has a little air in the atomiser, so it is sensible to use it within a reasonable time instead of leaving it half full for years. We do not give a shelf-life figure because it depends on the fragrance and on how you keep it. Avoid repeated temperature changes, keep the cap on and store it away from direct sunlight. If a scent smells noticeably different from when you first sprayed it, trust your nose.
Is it worth buying a decant instead of a full bottle?
If you have not worn a fragrance for a full day, yes. A decant lets you test performance on your own skin and in your own weather, and the saving on a wrong purchase is the largest part of the value. If you already know you love a perfume and will finish it, the 9 ml or 15 ml decant is the natural step before buying a full bottle from a retailer. Start with a pick you are curious about, such as Lattafa Khamrah, and move up from there.
