How is Interlude Black Iris different from the original Interlude Man?

Black Iris is the creamier, more wearable one. It keeps the smoky incense, leather and oud DNA of the Interlude family but wraps it in orris and amber, so it feels softer than the original's dense incense wall. It is also a separate scent from Interlude 53 Man, despite the shared line.

Is Interlude Black Iris an office scent or an evening one?

It leans formal and evening. The leather, oud-smoke, myrrh and incense base is rich and serious, better suited to cooler weather and dressier occasions than to a quiet daily-office backdrop.

Violet leaf and rosemary open this Amouage eau de parfum (EDP), moving through an amber-laden heart of orris, olibanum and myrrh into a deep base of leather, oud, sandalwood and patchouli.

Composed by Pierre Negrin, it is a unisex, heavyweight oriental woody, suited to a winter wedding season here (Nov–Feb) or a formal evening once the cooler months set in. Longevity and sillage figures are not confirmed for this one, so a skin test is the way to judge its staying power. AUROME sells it as a 3–9 ml decant filled from the original Amouage bottle, an easy way to sample it before buying more.
