By Kilian's Incense Oud is no longer part of the house's current lineup, so the bottles still in circulation are older stock. The batch year simply tells you the production date behind this decant, which is the kind of detail collectors of discontinued releases like to have before buying. The composition is the original Sidonie Lancesseur formula either way, a dry, ecclesiastical incense over a soft, constructed oud.

More comfortably than most oud fragrances, because of what is missing from it. There is no vanilla, amber or sugar in the base, so heat has nothing sweet to amplify. What warmth does instead is push the papyrus, oakmoss and labdanum drier and smokier, while the jammy rose up top loses its sweetness sooner than it would in cool air. It stays close to the skin here rather than expanding, which makes it an easier hot-weather oud than the sweet ones it sits beside.
