What inspired Kilian Woman in Gold?

It is inspired by Gustav Klimt's 1907 painting Woman in Gold, the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. The scent is a warm floral: bergamot, aldehydes and mandarin open it bright, a heart of vanilla absolute, rose, geranium, freesia and marshmallow gives it a soft, powdery floral core, over vanilla, akigalawood, tonka bean, patchouli and musk. The result is a rich rose-vanilla rather than a sharp floral. Perfumer Calice Becker composed it for Kilian's Narcotics line.

Is Woman in Gold similar to Rochas Tocade?

Some wearers do compare the two, especially the warm rose-vanilla dry-down. Woman in Gold opens brighter, with aldehydes and citrus, and feels richer and more polished overall, while Tocade is simpler and more retro. They are worth smelling side by side, but Woman in Gold is the more layered, dressed-up take rather than a direct match.

Bergamot, aldehydes and mandarin open this oriental floral with a sparkling, fresh spicy citrus lift before vanilla, rose and freesia settle into a soft, marshmallow-tinged heart. The base leans golden, with tonka and patchouli deepening the vanilla into something rich rather than sugary.

It’s suited to a date night, an evening out or even a winter wedding, when a warm vanilla floral feels appropriate against cooler air. Expect it to last well and project generously, filling a room without needing frequent reapplication.
