The men's Black XS is a sweet, spicy woody: a quick citrus-and-sage top gives way to praline and cinnamon, and it dries down on patchouli and dark amber. It is warm and a little gourmand, built for evenings rather than fresh daytime wear.
Not quite. The 2005 release has been reformulated, and many long-time wearers find the newer silver-label version lighter and less rich than the original darker-label bottle. The core praline-and-patchouli character remains, just softer.
It has become harder to find as Rabanne has scaled the line back, so it now turns up mostly through decant sellers and remaining stock rather than as a current release. That scarcity is part of why fans stock up when they find the older formulation.
Lemon and sage open Black XS fresh and aromatic, praline, cinnamon and balsam sweeten the heart considerably, and patchouli, Brazilian rosewood and amber close a warm spicy, sweet base.
Expect this eau de toilette (EDT) to last through a party or date night comfortably, noticeable as the praline warmth settles. AUROME sells it as a 5–15 ml decant from the original Paco Rabanne bottle, worth a week’s wear before deciding on a full bottle.
