Olibanum, anise, elemi, cardamom and basil open Opus XIV Royal Tobacco with a resinous, aromatic start before tobacco, licorice, fenugreek, lavender and osmanthus fill a warm spicy heart.
Olibanum returns alongside myrrh, vanilla, benzoin and oud in the base, giving this Amouage release a dense, balsamic amber finish. Longevity is rated a strong 5 out of 5 with sillage at 4, so expect it to last well past a long evening.
It belongs to a winter wedding, a party, or a formal evening in Dhaka rather than daytime wear. Cécile Zarokian’s 2022 unisex composition comes as a 3–9 ml decant filled from the original bottle.
