Both are the house's oud-and-rose and they differ in how much else is in the room. Black Aoud is nearly bare: mandarin into rose over labdanum, musk, oud, patchouli and sandalwood, and its force comes from that simplicity. Aoud Night adds bergamot and Sicilian lemon up top, which cuts the resin early, and finishes on leather, guaiac wood and amber alongside the sandalwood. Black Aoud is the blunt one; Aoud Night is the same idea with the edges filed down.

The citrus buys you less time than it does in cool air. Bergamot and Sicilian lemon are what keep the opening from being oppressive, and both thin within minutes in high heat, so the oud and Moroccan rose arrive faster here. Neither of those sweetens on warm skin, and the leather and guaiac base stays dry, so it does not turn heavy so much as arrive early. Wear it in the evening and let the citrus phase go without expecting much of it.
