The Intense removes almost everything except the iris. L'Homme Intense is iris over amber and patchouli with tonka, leather and sandalwood underneath, dense and quiet. The Eau de Toilette keeps a proper structure around the same iris: neroli, black pepper, cardamom and carrot seeds up top, then violet, geranium and mate through the heart. The EDT is the brighter and more legible of the two; the Intense is the one for people who wanted only the powder.

Iris is one of the few materials that genuinely does. It stays cool, dry and powdery on warm skin instead of sweetening, which is why iris-led fragrances outlast gourmands in this climate. The neroli and cardamom opening compresses in heat, so you reach the iris sooner. What changes underneath is the amber and patchouli base, which warms through the afternoon and gives the later hours more weight than the powdery middle suggests.
