Le Parfum is the darkest concentration in the line: it keeps pepper, anise and bergamot up top but adds a fruity accord and French labdanum to the heart, then finishes on vanilla, patchouli and vetiver rather than the original's bare cedar and caraway. The batch year is there because this is discontinued stock, so what circulates now is dated bottles, and for a line this heavily discussed the production year is worth knowing before you buy.

Sweeter, denser, and less about the cardamom. The original is essentially cardamom over lavender, cedar and vetiver, dry from start to finish. Le Parfum brings in labdanum and a fruity accord through the middle and lands on vanilla and patchouli, so it reads warmer and rounder and carries into the evening differently. If the original felt too austere, this is the version that fixes it; if the cardamom was the appeal, this dilutes it.
