Why does Portrayal Man have only three notes?

It is a deliberate minimalist statement from Amouage, which usually makes dense compositions. Pierre Negrin built it on just violet leaf, vetiver and cade, so each note is clearly readable: green top, earthy heart, smoky base. The simplicity is the point.

What does the cade note smell like?

Cade is a tarry, smoky, almost burnt-wood material, and it gives Portrayal Man its distinctive campfire-and-leather base. It is uncommon as a headline note, and it is what makes the scent feel rugged rather than clean despite the short note list.

Portrayal Man opens with violet leaf, a green, slightly bitter top before vetiver settles the heart into something earthy and aromatic.

Cade oil closes the dry-down with a smoky, woody edge, giving this eau de parfum (EDP) an ozonic, aquatic freshness that Pierre Negrin kept deliberately spare. Expect it to last well and project with confidence through office and evening wear alike.
